With so much grass here on Vancouver Island, sheep and lamb can take advantage of the small acrages to be grass finished correctly after the spring flush of grass that happens April, May & June.
For this reason, we harvest our Grassfed Lamb at the end of June and early July so they are tender and sweet on the best grass of the year. Retail cuts will be available at the farmers market while supplies last.
The flock is still small, so reserve a whole animal before they are all spoken for - a whole animal is only one big box or 25-35lbs in your freezer, but boy is it worthwhile… Yum!
This shows moving the sheep to fresh gress daily - the right was the area grazed the day before, the green middle is where they will be for 24h, the left shows one week of recovery allowing the grass to regenerate stronger than it was originally ahead of grazing it again.
